The Video Production Process

What does the video production process consist of?
Here is a brief explanation of the process.

Pre-Production

Pre-production is the planning stage of video production. It is where the idea for the video is developed, the script is written, and all the details are coordinated in advance to ensure a smooth and efficient production.

Production

Production is the shooting stage of video production. It is where the video is actually filmed, and all the footage is captured. The production team works together to execute the plan that was created in the pre-production stage.

Post-Production

Post-production is the stage where the video is edited, sound is added, and the final look is created. It is the most time-consuming and expensive stage of video production, but it is also the stage where the video takes its final form.

How much does a video typically cost?

All videos are unique, or no one would stand out from anyone else! That being said, all projects are priced uniquely depending upon a lot of factors. Here at Blue Goose Media we strive to make video production affordable for businesses of all sizes, therefore most projects are <$2k.

What factors go into pricing for video production?

There are many factors that go into pricing of video production, here is a list of some of the major factors: Complexity of the video, duration of the video, the length of the shoot, the equipment required for the shoot, if additional crew is needed, the amount of time editing, motion graphics if needed, location or locations.

How long does producing a video take?

This depends on how busy we are at at the time and how efficiently you can communicate your needs. However for the most part, once we are on the same page about what video we want to create, it can take around a week to iron out the script and shot list. Once that’s done, we just have to schedule the shoot! Editing typically takes less than a week.

What is the video production process like?

We start by scheduling a meeting to discuss what kind of video to create. After that meeting, we will begin the process of planning the shoot. This starts with pre-production, which consists of writing the script or questions that will be asked, planning each shot we want and creating a basic outline of what the video will look like, scheduling the shoot day, getting any approvals we may need such as drone approval from FAA on that day. Then we move on to production day, which should go very smoothly due to our detailed preparation. After production is complete, we begin the process of post-production. During post, we may go back and forth sending drafts of the video and revising it, we may request logos, music, or other files from you. Once we are both happy with the final product, we’re done!

How can you use the videos we create?

There are so many uses for video, I couldn’t even list them all here if I wanted to. But here are a few things you could use them for: digital signage, embedding on your website, sharing on your social media, or even posting to your Google Business Profile.

Can ROI be measured on videos?

If the purpose of the video is advertising, then yes, there are various ways to measure the ROI. For example, we can add a special promo code in the video, so if a customers uses that promo code, you know they watched the video.

If the video is more for informational purposes, ROI cannot really be measured. For example, if you are a Orthodontist and we create an informational video about the services you offer, and you embed the video in your website, there’s no real way for us to measure how much that helps you get new clients. You could try comparing the amound of new clients you got within a time period, to the amount that you got in the same time period in the last year, that could give you a rough idea if it helped. But the state of the economy and the world could affect those measurements and skew the results.
